Our feet are quite incredible things. They take all of our body weight when we are standing, and take even more pressure when we walk or run. It's no surprise then, that injuries and problems can often arise in the feet, including a fairly common condition called plantar fasciitis.
There is a layer of connective tissue called the plantar fascia on the sole of your foot, wrapping around lots of muscles and tendons like a really thick piece of cling film. This layer can be aggravated by a variety of factors, resulting in pain which presents differently in different people, but is often felt as a burning near the heel. The pain is typically worse in the mornings, and gets better as you move about more.
Things that can help include massaging your foot with a spiky ball, calf stretches and foam rolling, using insoles to correct fallen arches, using a special plantar fasciitis sock overnight.
