Style Acre is a local charity supporting adults who have learning disabilities and autism, and is blimmin' awesome. I know this, because, when I'm not on maternity leave, I work for them as a Community Fundraiser and Volunteer Coordinator. They are doing an amazing job in these tough times to keep all the guys they support safe but also happy, healthy and entertained which is no mean feat. Many of the guys are used to partaking in a lot of activities in the community, and attend Style Acre's day hubs, which are currently closed. Any change to routine is a big deal for a lot of people.
To help with keeping everyone healthy and motivated, along with hopefully making some money to keep food delivery services and other activities going, the charity is encouraging all staff, people they support, volunteers and members of the community to take part in 'My Marathon, My Way' in May - essentially doing 26.2 miles total throughout May, however you wish - walking, running, cycling, roller-skating - someone has even decided to count hours of gardening and craft activity!
I thought this was something Hazel and I could take part in together - her first challenge event and a nice way to spend our last month of maternity leave (although this is now extended as I'm on furlough!). The link is here.
Here are some photos of us along the way....
