Lockdown can be a pain in the neck

Updated: May 11, 2020

I know quite a few people have neck tension and pain at the moment, or are perhaps noticing it more. Working from home may not be as ergonomically comfortable as in the office, stress of the situation and an unknown future could perhaps be causing tension, or an increased use of technology meaning more strain on the neck. Without being able to access soft tissue therapists, chiropractors and physiotherapy services, there are still some things you can do at home to help you through this.

I've made some videos demonstrating some self-help stretches and self massage techniques.

'Text neck' is a phenomenon that comes about from increased use of phones, but can also be a result of other activities. It is essentially a postural change as a result of the head being held in a forward position and looking down a lot. This causes the force of the head on the muscles supporting it to increase dramatically, causing a range of problems. The documents below provide some information, advice and exercises which may help.
